To celebrate the 40th anniversary of the McNugget’s first appearance on menus in 1983, McDonald’s China offered McNugget-shaped handheld gaming systems that play Tetris. Available for 30 yuan (~$4.25) with any purchase, the 400,000 systems manufactured quickly sold out. And I can see why; who wouldn’t want to play Tetris on a McNugget? Or sell them on eBay for a ridiculous profit.
The handheld systems, each shaped like the ‘boot’ McNugget (my favorite shape McNugget), play basic Tetris on an LCD screen, WITH SOUND. Not bad for four bucks. I mean, if you were able to buy one at a McDonald’s in China for that price. The cheapest I see them on eBay is around $30, which makes these McNuggets a lot less appetizing.
Did I just buy one on eBay anyways? Yes, but only because I’m convinced in a few years from now, it’ll be worth at least double or triple what I paid for it. Of course, by then, I will have accidentally donated it to Goodwill, but cleaning out my junk drawers is always a risky proposition.
