Long before The Twilight Saga and Interview with the Vampire broke the stereotype of vampire movies that were mostly based on blood-sucking old men or suave young Count, there was a vampire movie that have young bikers as vampires.
The movie was The Lost Boys. OK. That’s not entirely true cos’ the antagonist, aka the head vampire, was revealed to be a middle-aged man, a video store owner played by Ed Herrmann. So technically, the film only smashed half of the stereotype. But that’s not the point. The point is, The Lost Boys, together with Fright Night, remains the most memorable vampire movie born out of the 80s.
Most fans would agree that David Powers, the leader of the youth biker gang, outshone the protagonist by miles. It is a character that gave the movie its soul. Ironic because David as a vampire does have a soul.
Anywho, if you are a fan, Super7 has got a couple of new ReAction action figures of the young vampire to sell you. Joining Super7 3.75” ReAction lineup are two David figures. The first is the (allegedly) human David accompanied by his Chinese food takeout and a bottle from the scene in which he attempts to convert Michael into a vampire.
The second is based on David in his true form with his vicious vampire look and a hand on fire from the sunlight as he was trying to drag Sam back into their cave. Remember that one scene with a lot of screaming. Yeah, that was the one. Vampire David comes in a special upside-down card back (because he is a vampire. Get it, get it?).
The Super7 The Lost Boys ReAction Figure – David (Human) and the Super7 The Lost Boys ReAction Figure – David (Vampire) are available now for 18 bucks a pop from super7.com.
