For petrolheads who love the compact nature of the Fiat 500 but wished it is more sporty and has more power under the hood, then look no further than the 2022 Abarth 595 and Abarth 695.
The iconic Abarth range has been updated with two models, two power versions, and four spec upgrades.
Kicking off the range is the MY22 Abarth 595, powered by a 1.4 T-jet in-line 4 engine, outfitted with an increased Garrett turbocharge (GT 1446) with a geometric compression ratio of 9:1, to result in a power output of 165 horsepower and a pretty impressive torque of 230 Nm (170 lb-ft).
Mated to a 5-speed gearbox as standard, the 2022 Abarth 595 makes the century sprint (0-100 km/h/0-62 mph) in a respectable 7.3 seconds before hitting a top speed of 135 mph (217 km/h).
Other notables include dual chrome-plated exhaust, high-performance BMC filter, self-ventilating brake discs front and perforated discs rear, 16-inch alloy wheels wrapped in 205/40 tires, Koni rear suspension, sports seats, fog lights, and stainless steel pedal covers.
The 595 can be equipped as either the Turismo with focused on style and creature comfort, or the F595 which emphasizes performance with features like Koni front suspension and Record Monza Sovrapposto exhaust system that has two pipes per side, vertically stacked. The exhaust has user-selectable sounds. Both the Turismo and F595 have equipment upgrades and rolls on larger 17-inch alloy wheels.
The Abarth 695, on the other hand, is a range-topping model armed with the same engine but massaged to deliver 180 horsepower and 250 Nm (184 lb-ft) of torque, and mated to a 5-speed stick shifter with the option for a 5-speed automatic sequential gearbox. The latter is also available for the 595 Turismo and F595.
The 685 has a lower, more sporty setup with Koni suspension all-around and is outfitted with Record Monza Sovrapposto (with the 4 vertical exhaust tailpipes) as standard, along with 17-inch Formula Matt Black alloy wheels.
All told, the manual gearbox 695 wipes the century sprint in 6.7 seconds and has a top speed of 140 mph (225 km/h). Similarly, the 695 can also be equipped as either the Turismo with a focus on style or Competizione for performance.
Turismo in the case of 695 features titanium wheels, leather seats, Alcantara dashboard, retractable roof, aluminum gear lever, and race-inspired steering wheel, for example.
Competizione meanwhile offers Sabelt carbon seats, aluminum gear shifter, mechanical self-locking differential, Brembo brake calipers, and 17-inch Montecarlo wheels – in addition to the 4-tailpipe Dual “Record Monza” exhaust and perforated self-ventilating discs (front), perforated discs (rear), Koni suspension all-around, and high-performance BMC filter.
The new 2022 Abarth 595 and the 2022 Abarth 695 are available now in the U.K. starting at £21,295 and £24,495, respectively.
