The Audemars Piguet Royal Oak Concept Tourbillon Spider-Man watch is a collaboration with Marvel to celebrate the release of Spider-Man: Across The Spider-Verse. The $215,000 wristwatch features a 3D likeness of Spider-Man that appears as if he’s about to swing right out of the watch face. Is that worth $215,000? Apparently, to some people. At least it glows in the dark.
The watch features a 42mm titanium case and black ceramic bezel, and a 3D Spider-Man that’s been CNC machined from solid white gold and laser-etched. Each Spider-Man alone allegedly takes over 50 hours of craftsmanship to produce. The movement is provided by a hand-wound Calibre 2974, which has been skeletonized to remove all unnecessary pieces to really make Spidey appear to be swinging in mid-air.
The watch is a limited edition of 250 units and is expected to sell out quickly. That boggles my mind. 250 people are going to snatch up these watches for $215,000 apiece like it’s nothing. Meanwhile, I’m trying to decide if I should charge my phone at home or walk to the library and use their electricity. Totally different lives.
