Remember the “Gulf One” ’63 Corvette Sting Ray from the 60s with an illustrious racing career? Well, this is not it. In fact, this isn’t a real car at all. It is a Matchbox’s homage to the Gulf One but with a 2020 Corvette C8, the first mid-engine version of the model.
The team over at Matchbox has gotten creative and decided to incorporate the iconic power blue and Marigold orange livery on the 2020 Corvette C8 and the result pretty much speaks for itself: it was a match made in heaven.
The ZAMAC body type die-cast collectible is treated to a powder blue body color, decorated with Marigold orange racing stripes on top and sides. In addition, you will be able to spot “GULF” and other authentic sponsor logos on the front and sides, along with a black “50” in a white circle on the front, sides, and rear.
The miniature 2020 Corvette in Gulf livery rides on True Grip Euro wheels with grey-painted hubs and has lights smoke-tinted windows, and a pearl grey interior. Unfortunately, it does not appear to be spotting individual components for the headlights and taillights.
It will come mounted in an acrylic case with stylized deco honoring the Gulf heritage.
The Matchbox 2020 Corvette Die-cast Toy Car will launch on October 20, 2022, at 9 AM PT, for US$25 a pop. It is a pre-order which will be fulfilled starting on January 06, 2023.
