Sony has just revealed another Xperia phone for 2022, the Sony Xperia 5 IV. The new Sony Xperia 5 IV joins the Xperia 1 IV and Xperia 10 IV, offering another option. It offers much of the features found on the flagship Xperia but in a more handy package.
Notwithstanding its smaller size, the new Sony Xperia 5 IV’s battery has 10% more capacity than its predecessor, coming in at 5,000 mAh. And it is going to need it (the larger battery capacity) because it is running on Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Gen 1 chip which is not known for power efficiency.
The device is outfitted with a 120 Hz 6.1-inch FHD+ (2,520 x 1,080 pixels) HDR OLED display and as always, imaging is the main focus, with the device getting a 12 MP tri-camera setup, featuring 120 fps high-speed read sensor Exmor RS for Mobile sensor across the board.
This setup comprises of a 12MP 1/2.5” sensor with 16 mm ƒ2.2 ultrawide, a 12 MP 1/1.7” sensor paired with 24 mm ƒ1.7 wide, and a 12 MP 1/3.5” sensor with 60 mm ƒ2.4 telephoto. The latter two, namely, Wide and Tele, boast optical image stabilization.
Autofocus is available across all three rear cameras and so are Eye AF and Object Tracking. Moreover, users can now enable cinematic video features on all three lenses too, including 4K HDR, and 120 fps super slow-motion recording to create a cinematic look.
Other notables include 8 GB RAM, 128 GB storage, microSDXC support (up to 1 TB), dual SIM (nanoSIM/eSIM), Bluetooth 5.2, Bluetooth LE Audio, dual-band Wi-Fi 6, GPS (A-GPS, A-GLONASS, Beidou, Galileo, QZSS), USB 3.2 (Type C interface), NDC, IPX5/IPX8 water resistant, IP6X dustproof, Corning Gorilla Glass Victus, 240 Hz Motion blur reduction, 240 Hz Touch scanning rate, wireless charging, Hi-RES Audio, Hi-Res Audio Wireless (LDAC), 3.5 mm audio jack, 360 Reality Audio, and Dolby Atmos.
The Sony Xperia 5 IV Smartphone is available to order now from electronics.sony.com for US$999.99.
