The last time we feature in-car entertainment was way back in 2013 and it wasn’t even an actual DIN unit; it was an automobile-focused Android tablet. Touchscreen infotainment is the standard today and if your car still does not have it, fret not, because there are car AV receivers like the new Sony XAV-AX6000 and XAV-AX4000.
Being the latest in in-car entertainment head units, they feature up-to-date functions like fully wireless smartphone conversion, allowing you to use voice control for navigation or play music even when your smartphone is in your pocket.
Both models have a 6.95-inch screen with the XAV-AX6000 rocking a bezel-less flush surface display with a capacitive touch screen while the XAV-AX4000 has an anti-glare sleek touch screen.
The XAV-AX6000 further boasts HDMI connectivity for hooking up external audio and visual source device for viewing while parked and a high-voltage pre-out offering a 5-volt signal affording clearer sound with less distortion.
Beyond those differences, the two are pretty much identical. Both models support Apple CarPlay and Android Auto and have iDatalink Maestro compatibility allowing each unit to connect to the vehicle’s onboard computer, making it work as a customized display for the car’s factory-equipped functions and features. It allows for a seamless interface with the factory infotainment and vehicle information like air conditioning, performance, and safety.
Other features include LDAC for exceptional sound quality, FLAC audio file compatibility, built-in DSP, 14-band EQ, 3-zone crossover, Quick Wake Up feature, rear view camera-ready with adjustable parking guidelines, simple button controls with improved design, customizable wallpaper, USB Type-C (5V3A) port, gold-plated 3-pre out terminals for future systems, and a space-saving installation with single-DIN rear chassis.
The Sony XAV-AX6000 Car AV Receivers will be available to buy in September with an SRP of US$699.99. The Sony XAV-AX4000 will be available in August, for US$599.99.
