Seen here looking like a poor man’s Boston Dynamics ATLAS, Unitree’s H1 humanoid robot is scheduled for production in the next couple of years and promises to be a much more affordable option compared to other robots coming to market, with an estimated price tag of around $90,000. The robot stands 71″ tall, weighs just over 100 pounds, and “comes equipped with two Intel Core i7-1265U processors, a 3D LiDAR sensor, depth camera, as well as self-developed, high-torque joint motors.” Oh yeah, high-torque joint motors are a must if it plans to snap human bones as payback for all that kicking.
The H1 features five-degree of freedom legs, four-degree of freedom arms, and can walk around 3.5 MPH. And while this prototype doesn’t have any hands, Unitree plans to have a flexible finger option available when it hits the market to replace its current punching stumps.
Unitree also makes a $3,000 version of a four-legged quadruped robot very reminiscent of Boston Dynamics’ $75,000 Spot robot. But, like my dad always says, you get what you pay for. In this case, I’ll get nothing because I’m not paying any price for some robot to try murdering me in my sleep.
