The rumored first-ever LEGO collaboration with Hasbro for a fully converting brick-built Transformers set – officially called the LEGO Creator Optimus Prime Set (10302) – is finally official!
Man, Hasbro’s Transformers is going places! First, this beloved property created quite a stir with an auto-converting Optimus Prime and now, there is a brick-built transformable Optimus Prime.
While it is not the first brick-built Transformers toy (that honor goes to Kreo, btw), it is the first official brick-built Transformers set that can actually convert from alt to bot and vice versa. However, LEGO is not the first to pull off this amazing LEGO engineering feat. LEGO enthusiasts like Tiago Catarino and more recently, Julius von Brunk, have already done that.
Anyways, so, yes, a transformable LEGO Transformers has been materialized and yes, kicking off this landmark collaboration is the most iconic character, Optimus Prime. The brick-tastic LEGO Creator Optimus Prime Set (10302), which was officially announced earlier today, was modeled after the G1 Optimus Prime and features remarkable details. Well, remarkable as far as a brick-built and transformable set could be.
When completed, the 1,508-piece is a 35 cm tall robot with 19 points of articulation that can convert into a 27 cm long semi truck.
Accompanying dear old (brick-built) Optimus Prime are the ion blaster, Energon ax, an Energon Cube, and the Autobot Matrix of Leadership, which can be stored in the Autobot leader’s chest chamber. Completing the package is a UCS-style information plaque with some hidden details.
The LEGO Creator Optimus Prime (10302) is set to arrive on June 01, 2022, for US$169.99. Meanwhile, you may learn more HERE.
