Ford Pro Electric SuperVan Packs A 2,000 PS Powertrain

How much power do an electric van needs? Not sure? Well, how about 2,000 PS, or 1,972.64 HP? Actually, you can’t have that. This over-the-top power is only available in the electric demonstrator inspired by the new E-Transit Custom, the Ford Pro Electric SuperVan.

Whether it is the power or the look, they are not practical for a business mover but hell, I would love to have excess power and a van with an aesthetic that will put many sports cars to shame.

Anyhoo, the Ford Pro Electric SuperVan is merely a showcase of Ford’s EV and connectivity capabilities. The colossal power was achieved with not one, not two, but four electric motors, along with a 50 kWh liquid-cooled battery and a bespoke control system.

On top of that, the van is rocking a purpose-built, track-ready chassis plus additional functionality to control the Electric SuperVan’s unique capabilities. All told, this SuperVan wipes the century sprint (0-62 mph) in under 2 seconds.

The van also features selectable drive modes, and regenerative braking, and boasts enough onboard processing power that would allow engineers to use real-time vehicle data to optimize its performance – just like on a racing car. Well, it is essentially a race car and so…

This 21st-century SuperVan marries an E-Transit Custom floorpan with a steel space frame and lightweight composite body panels. It further touts double-wishbone suspension at each corner, a full roll cage and racing seats to FIA standards, a large SYNC touchscreen found in Ford Mustang Mach E, and Motosport-grade front and rear subframes, uprights, and brakes.

Finally, there is the dramatically sculpted body’s front splitter, side skirts, and rear diffuser, complemented by a muscular styling with outlandish wheel arches and one-off livery, before finishing off with radical cutaway rear and a dorsal fin that flows into the rear wing to generate downforce to help it stick to the tarmac at speeds.

The Ford Pro Electric SuperVan was unveiled at the Goodwood Festival of Speed (June 23-26). Its performance will be put to the test by Le Mans racer and electric record-setter Romain Dumas at the event.
