Apple has just unveiled the new AirPods Pro (2nd gen) with MagSafe Charging (USB‑C) because, well, the Lightning port was so yesterday, and because it’d be an oddball without the USB-C now that iPads, Macs, and even iPhones are all USB-C devices.
These headphones offer double the Active Noise Cancellation, an advanced Transparency mode, an enhanced Spatial Audio experience, and a wider range of ear tip sizes. They now feature USB‑C charging, an improved IP54 rating for dust resistance, and Lossless Audio with Apple Vision Pro.
With iOS 17, they introduce Adaptive Audio and Conversation Awareness. With a USB-C connector, you will be able to charge Mac, iPad, AirPods, and the new iPhone 15 lineup with the same cable. I know right? It is a convenience that is long overdue.
Even better is that if you ever need to charge your AirPods Pro on the road, you can do so directly with iPhone 15, iPhone Plus, iPhone 15 Pro, and iPhone 15 Pro Max. It has the same H2 chip as the AirPods Pro (2nd Generation) announced last year, by the way.
You can order them today, and they’ll be in stores from September 22. The AirPods Pro (2nd Generation) with MagSafe Charging Case (USB-C) retails for US$249. In related news, EarPods (USB-C), aka the wired Apple earphones, will be available to order today too for US$19.
