Calm, the popular app for meditation/relaxing/sleep, has teamed up with Hasbro to bring Transformers to its app. How? By letting the gentle and yet assuring tones of the leader of the Autobots tell your kids (or you) the History of the Transformers.
Wait a minute. The history of Transformers is boring enough to coax you into la-la land? Hmmm. I imagine the eternal conflict between the Autobots and Deceptions can be quite repetitive and should be enough to get anyone drowsy?
Peter Cullen is the voice of Calm app’s History of the Transformers, which is no surprise here because the man’s voice is just about the right pitch to lull anyone to sleep. We saying that in a good way, btw.
Speaking of Cullen… Optimus Prime not voiced by him seems so not Optimus Prime if you know what I mean.
For those who don’t already know, Cullen was the voice behind many classic Transformers cartoons as well as in Michael Bay’s Transformers flicks.
If you are curious how does it sound, there is a 30 seconds preview on the Calm website, and on Twitter (embedded above), Calm has posted a minute preview. Be warned, you may be hooked and tempted to subscribe to Calm, which requires good money just to be able to hear the noble leader tell you a story.
The History of the Transformers is available now in the Calm app under the “Calm Kids” and “Sleep” sections.
