Remember the sports car of skateboards, Traqpod, that lets you ride the skateboard like are snowboarding or surfing the waves? Well, it is back. In fact, these guys never stopped. Since after Traqpod, there have been Traqpod 2 and 3, and now, Traqpod 3 Electric.
Well, now it is even more sports car-like with electric drive. The Traqpod 3 Electric is pretty much the 3, featuring the spring-based trucks that fold in for easy storage and toting around, a concave deck for stability, control, and maneuverability, and featuring an overmold grip layer.
The deck is made of polypropylene while the trucks are of reinforced polyamide. It is available in a choice of yellow, red, and blue, and in a choice of single drive or dual drive.
The motor is a brushless hub motor with regenerating braking rated at 450 W, paired to an optimized lithium cell array with a miniature Battery Management System (BMS) in an integrated battery pack on the belly of the deck.
The motor offers 3 speeds: 21 km/h (13 mph), 34 km/h (21 mph), and 43 km/h (26.7 mph). The battery pack is a 36V system, packing 5.2 Ah/187/2 Wh that offers up to 18 km (11.2 miles) range and takes just 2 hours to fully recharge.
While control is via the usual lean-to-turn, a handheld, Bluetooth remote control lets you control the forward speed and activate the brake. The remote has an OLED display that provides at-a-glance parameters. The new Traqpod 3 Electric comes standard with Oralite reflectors but it can also be ordered with front-and-back white/red LED lights so that you can be even more visible to other road users.
You can learn more about the Traqpod 3 Electric on Kickstarter where you can also pledge for a unit for €599 or more (or about US$660 according to Kickstarter).
