In addition to the second folding phone, Oppo announced a flip phone called Oppo Find N2 Flip. Looking past the less-than-creative naming and suspiciously Samsung Galaxy Z Flip4 flagship color, it is actually a very pretty device and also a very unique one too – thanks to the large, 3.26-inch vertical second display.
Though not nearly as large as the new 2022 Razr, the cover screen of the Oppo Find N2 Flip is big enough, taking more than half of the external cover. From the external display, you will have access to weather information, take a look at your schedules, access the camera features, control your Oppo earbuds, watch videos, and reply to text messages with emojis, plus send voice messages.
You can also “adopt” a virtual pet (which is more like a GIF, really) that will randomly appear on the cover screen in doing different things. Because the cover screen is large, it also allows you to use the main display to push payment and appointment QR codes, boarding pass, and whatnot to the display to allow others to scan or authenticate.
And when you have apps running in open mode, information and data from the apps will continue to display on the second display.
With the Oppo Find N2 Flip, Oppo joins the exclusive club of companies that offers flip-style folding phones. Like the Z Flip4, the Find N2 Flip also allows for opening at varying angles, so that the entire phone is a stand itself for watching videos, video chats, and taking photos/videos.
Under the hood, the Oppo Find N2 Flip is powered by Dimensity 9000+ octacore chip with clock speed up to 3.2 GHz, paired with LPDDR5 RAM and UFS3.1 storage.
The main snapper is a duo camera featuring a 50 MP main camera (f/1.8, 86° FoV, 7P lens, AF) and an 8 MP ultra-wide angle camera (f/2.2, 112° FoV, 5P lens). On the inside, there is a 32 MP selfie camera with f/2.4 aperture, 90° FoV, 5P lens, and support AF. It does not have OIS but it does have EIS on the rear-facing camera.
The imaging “brain” is of course Oppo’s self-developed MariSilicon X NPU chip. Hasselblad isn’t present on this device, though.
A few other highlights include side-mounted fingerprint unlock, face unlock, NFC payment, dual SIM support (nano), 5G radio, Wi-Fi 6, tri-band WiFi, 2×2 MIMO, 8 Spatial-stream sounding MU-MIMO, Bluetooth 5.3, and a4,300 mAh battery that supports 44W SUPERVOOC fast charging.
The Oppo Find N2 Flip comes in three colors and is available in 3 configurations: 8 + 256 GB, 12 + 256GB, and 16 + 512 GB. It will be available to order in China tomorrow (China time) with a starting price of 5,999 yuan (around US$860).
