Do not confuse this with H. Moser & Cie’s creation from a few years ago. While H. Moser & Cie’s work of art was a clone and created by professional watchmakers, this fully functional Apple mechanical watch was an actual Apple Watch by a lone tinkerer.
This awesome creation by the YouTube channel NanoRobotGeek started its life as a 42 mm Apple Watch Series 1 stainless steel model. It has been gutted and modified to incorporate a Seiko NH38 mechanical movement and outfitted with a Zirconium dial.
What used to be the sensors for heart rate and stuff on the caseback is now a transparent element – a mineral glass – that show off the watch’s inner workings. The transparent caseback showcases the Silver Côtes De Genève rotor with a cut-out of the Apple logo.
Over at the front, it has a set of Nautilus-style hands against a minimalistic black dial with a circular opening at the 9 o’clock position that showcases the mechanical movement beneath it. At a glance, you’d be forgiven to think it was dial face. This is a very, very cool build.
While you are not able to purchase the mechanical Apple Watch, NanoRobotGeek has shared the instructions on the build on Instructables.
