If you are in the market for a budget smartphone from a well-known brand name, then look no further than the new OnePlus Nord N30 5G. As the product name implies, the OnePlus Nord N30 5G is a follow-up to the last year’s OnePlus Nord N20 5G which is also the US version of the OnePlus Nord CE 3 Lite launched two months ago for EU and Asia markets.
While the OnePlus Nord N30 5G is a feature-rich sub-US$300 device, it is by no means super fast or super powerful (obviously). It is powered by Qualcomm Snapdragon 695 Chipset, which features an Adreno 619 GPU, and has 8 GB LPDDR4X and 128 GB UFS 2.2 storage – both of which are not the fastest in the house. The same goes for the display. It may be a 6.72” 120 Hz display but it is an LCD, not AMOLED or even OLED, and obviously no LTPO tech.
But the rest of the device is everything anyone can ask for at this price point: a 108 MP Camera System that touts 3x lossless zoom and 9-in-1 pixel binning tech that absorbs more light for brighter, more colorful images, 8GB virtual RAM expansion, support up to 1 TB external storage, dual stereo speakers, 200% Ultra Volume Mode for loud, distortion and buzz-free loud sound without the need for portable speakers, and 5,000 mAh battery paired up with 50W SUPERVOOC Endurance Edition.
The latter features Battery Health Engine technology that increases the battery’s lifespan and prevents overcharging by working with 12 built-in temperature sensors and smart charging chip to provide adaptive charging that matches your sleep schedule.
The main camera is a Samsung sensor (S5KHM6SX03) with a 6P lens, EIS, and f1.7 aperture. It is joined by a 2 MP macro lens camera and a 2 MP depth-assist camera. Video recording, however, maxes out at 1080p at 30 fps. It is also marketed as a “gaming device”, featuring Quick Start and Gaming Tools, with Game Focus Mode, and an improved GPA Frame Stabilizer.
The device further features a 3.5 mm headphone jack, a USB Type-C port (USB 2.0), a side-mounted fingerprint sensor, Bluetooth 5.1, dual-band Wi-Fi, location, and the usual suspects of sensors. The device runs on the latest OxygenOS 13.1 which is based on Android 13.
The mark the launch of the new OnePlus Nord N30 5G in America, OnePlus is offering a bunch of extras at no added cost, including a pair of OnePlus Nord Buds 2 which is worth US$59). The OnePlus Nord N30 5G is available now from OnePlus.com for US$299.99.
