Not sure if it is the nostalgia at play here but have you guys noticed that Keaton’s Batman is getting more attention than The Flash is for the upcoming The Flash film? The most obvious celebration of Tim Burton’s 1989 Batman is the toy line. Toys based on the 1989 Batman has been announced by McFarlane, Hot Toys, NECA, Spin Master, and now, LEGO too.
The Danish toymaker has recently listed a new Batman set based on the 1989 Batman flick, the LEGO Batmobile: Batman vs. The Joker Chase (76224). This would make this fourth LEGO 1989 Batmobile, btw. The first was the UCS model, and 366-piece the limited edition gift-with-purchase set. And then there is the recent Batcave set which also has a 1989 Batmobile.
Anyhoo, the LEGO Batmobile: Batman vs. The Joker Chase (76224) is not based on the upcoming The Flash film. It is based on the Batmobile from the classic 1989 Batman movie. The 438-piece set lets kids build the iconic Batmobile with a lift-off roof for access to the cockpit that has room for a minifigure in the driver seat.
The completed model, which measures over 2 in. (5 cm) high, 11 in. (28 cm) long, and 3.5 in. (9 cm) wide, boasts a few gimmicks, including a control on the side that raises two blasters, a revolving afterburner which you can attach the included flame element, and a flip-open trunk that offers storage space for the included Batarang, harpoon spike, and handcuffs.
Also included with the set are two minifigures of Batman with helmet and cape, and The Joker.
The LEGO Batmobile: Batman vs. The Joker Chase (76224) is available for pre-order from LEGO.com for US$47.99, with delivery starting on August 01, 2023.
