Rugged luggage maker BRIEFING has partnered with Japanese mobile gear brand ROOT CO. for a super cool, rugged case for Apple AirPods. Rugged cases for AirPods and for AirPods Pro aren’t new but the BRxROOT CO. Shock Resist Case Pro. for AirPods/AirPods Pro might just be the best looking yet, IMHO.
In addition to the two-layer construction comprising PC and TPU, and compliant with the US MIL standard – specifically MIL-STD-810G 516.6 Procedure IV – for impact resistance and shock absorption, the BRxROOT CO. Shock Resist Case Pro. for AirPods/AirPods Pro has a secured mechanism to prevent errand opening of the case when the going gets rough. It is a small but no less important design feature because there is no point surviving a huge drop only to find the earbuds aren’t inside anymore.
On the opposite of this locking mechanism, it has a loop in which you can attach the 20 mm wide webbing tape with a loop on the other end for attaching the included S-shaped carabiner.
The case supports both wireless and wired charging. When slipped on the AirPods’ case, the LED indicator is unobstructed and so is the pairing button around.
The BRxROOT CO. Shock Resist Case Pro. is available for AirPods (3rd Generation) and AirPods Pro (1st/2nd Generation). It is available in Japan from Amazon Japan, Rakuten, as well as ROOT CO. webstore for 4,950 yen (about US$37).
