Meanwhile in the world of BE@RBRICK is yet another collaboration with Japanese streetwear brand A Bathing Ape. However, what is different this time is that it is a three-way collaboration involving Chogokin.
For this BE@RBRICK Chogokin Camo Shark Figure, as it is called, the adorable blocky bear silhouette is decorated with BAPE’s iconic shark design – completed with the image of the zipper that runs from the waist to the head – against a background of the MCT Camo.
MCT Camo is the camouflage pattern that often appears in a collaboration between the Japanese toy maker and A Bathing Ape. The camo pattern is presented in three primary colors, namely, red, yellow, and blue, commonly used by Medicom Toy in its products. The result is a very comic-ish BE@RBRICK figure.
However, this camo treatment is limited to the upper half of the figure, mimicking the bear wearing a BAPE hoodie.
The chogokin portion of the collaboration is in the weight. Thanks to the use of alloy, the BE@RBRICK Chogokin Camo Shark Figure offers a more satisfying heft than its regular counterparts. Though it is not mentioned how heavy the figure is.
In addition, chogokin brings about a unique construction that is seamless and clean, with minimal visible screws.
The BE@RBRICK Chogokin Camo Shark Figure is a 200% size figure (i.e. about 145 mm/5.7 inches) tall. It goes on sale on February 25, 2023, Japan time, at Tokyo Skytree Town Solamachi Stores, Medicom Toy webstore as well as A Bathing Ape official retailers and webstore, for 17,380 yen (about US$127).
