There exists a “gray category” in the world of two-wheel transportation. You know, an urban transport or last-mile transport that has limited power and range but looks like a motorcycle/scooter and they mostly do not require a license to ride. The Maeving RM1 Electric Motorcycle is kind of that. Let me explain.
Maeving RM1 is an electric bike that has similar trades as the “gray category” vehicles. It has a limited range (up to 40 miles/64 km or up to 80 miles/129 km in dual battery configuration) and has a power output that is less than a typical 125cc scooter.
However, while the Bosch Hub Motor peaks out at 5.9 horses (4.4 kW), it being electric has a lot of torque for a motorcycle: 160 Nm (118 lb-ft).
Anyhoo, it may share similar trade to two-wheel transportation of the “gray category” but it is a true blue motorcycle and a very beautiful one too. The British startup electric motorcycle maker sure knows a thing about aesthetic.
The Maeving RM1 takes on the classic bike design but thanks to electrification, it has a clean, minimal look. A lot less happening in the area under what would be a fuel tank on a gas-powered variety. It is a head-turner for sure.
It is a motorcycle for sure but it does have another perk of vehicles from the “gray category”: it has removable batteries that can be charged at any UK three-pink plug. Perfect for folks who do not have a garage.
This also means that its limited range shouldn’t result in anxiety because now you can charge it while you are in the office. Each battery, which is 50.4V and rated at 42 Ah, takes just 3.5 hours to fully recharge.
The Maeving RM1 is offered in a choice of single or dual battery configuration. It has a top speed of 44 miles per hour (70 km/h), weighs just 98 kilograms (216 lbs), and has a built-in anti-theft tracker.
The Maeving RM1 electric motorcycle has a starting price of £5,995 (about US$7,422). You may learn more at Maeving.com.
