Bird Buddy bird feeders are smart, AI-powered bird feeders that can identify your local flying fauna when they come to eat and capture photos or videos in high definition. The feeder already exists for common backyard birds, but a model designed specifically for hummingbirds is going to be released this April, with the capability of identifying over 350 species. That’s a lot of hummingbirds! Where do you live, Hummingbird Island?
The Bird Buddy’s motion-activated high-speed camera is capable of capturing hummingbird wings traveling at 60MPH. That must be a sight! Did you know a hummingbird’s heart can beat up to 1,260BPM? That’s true. Also, insane. That’s 21 beats per second! I feel exhausted just knowing that.
Obviously, this is a great addition for birdwatchers who live in an area with a lot of local avian wildlife. Me? I live in the city, and I can’t even remember the last time I saw a bird that wasn’t a pigeon. I’m pretty sure it was a sign spinner dressed as a bald eagle, though, advertising some tax preparation business.
