BWM Motorrad has revealed an updated 2023 BMW M 1000 RR, or M RR for short, along with the second two-wheeled M Motorsport, the 2023 BMW M 1000 R aka M Roadster aka BMW M R. The BMW M 1000 RR, which is built for racing, has two variants: the M 1000 RR in basic paint finish Lightwhite non-metallic and M 1000 RR M Competition in basic paint finish Blackstorm metallic.
The new 2023 BMW M 1000 RR is powered by the familiar water-cooled inline 4-cylinder engine designed for racing purposes. While peak power output remains at 212 hp at 14,500 RPM, the top speed has been bumped from 306 km/h (190 mph) to 314 km/h (195 mph). As for the torque, it peaks at 113 Nm (83 lb-ft) at 11,000 RPM.
It has chassis featuring an aluminum bridge frame, an upside-down fork, and a central suspension strut with Full Floater Pro kinematics. The new M RR also rocks revised M Winglets for more downforce and boasts carbon fiber brake air ducts that are integrated into the new front mudguard. The latter is also optimized for improved airflow around the fork legs and brake calipers.
Other notables include carbon fiber M Aero Wheel Covers, M Carbon wheels with a clear lacquer coating, new tapes in M design on the wheel rims, redesigned rear end, ergonomic M Endurance seat, short number plate holder, and modified wiring harness – just to name a few.
Meanwhile, the 2023 BMW M 1000 R, which is based on the current S 1000 R and S 1000 RR, has been tuned to meet the specific requirements of a supersport roadster. The modified water-cooled inline 4 engine from the S 1000 RR now puts out 210 HP at 13,750 RPM – which is 45 horses more than the S 1000 R.
Torque is a 1 Nm down over the S 1000 R, at 113 Nm but at 11,000 RPM, as opposed to 9,250 RPM on the S 1000 R. The max rev is now at 14,600.
The new M R’s suspension and chassis are trimmed for performance-oriented use on country roads as well as racetracks, featuring fully adjustable suspension elements, steering damper, milled-over handlebar clamp, wider tubular handlebar with laser-etched “BMW M 1000 R” lettering and handlebar end mirrors.
Other highlights include M winglets and wind deflectors, increased aerodynamic downforce, M brakes with radial hand brake pump, lightweight forged aluminum wheels, Brake Slide Assist, titanium rear silencer, M Endurance chain, a 6.5-inch TFT display, and more.
The new 2023 BMW M 1000 R and M 1000 RR motorcycles will have a starting price of US$21,345 and US$32,995, respectively, when they become available in January 2023.
