Other World Computing, better known as OWC, has revealed its latest storage solutions for on-the-go creatives. The OWC Envoy Pro FX Ultra Rugged Drive is a portable SSD featuring Thunderbolt technology in a dust/drop/waterproof enclosure.
The portable drive for All Computerkind boasts compatibility with past, present, and future Macs, Windows, and Linux PCs, as well as iPad Pro, Chromebook, and Surface devices offering data speeds up to 2,800 MB/s. OK. Maybe not that past, past but it will work with Mac and PC from 2010.
The OWC Envoy Pro FX Ultra Rugged Drive features advanced storage technology with TRIM support that works with Thunderbolt to deliver the fastest and most reliable portable drive performance.
It is a plug-and-play drive, BUS-powered, and employs a USB-C interface. Its fan-less, heat-dissipating charcoal gray aluminum is IP67 rated, protecting it against dust and water ingress, and it further touts MIL-STD 810G certified military-level drop protection.
OWC said it was so tough that it has been sent into space and back onboard the Blue Origin New Shepard rocket.
The OWC Envoy Pro FX Ultra Rugged Drive is available from 240 GB to 4.0 TB and sells for US$219-US$899.
