Do you know that there is a LEGO Technic Ultimate Car Concept series? It’s OK if you don’t know because it is not like LEGO spelled it out on the box. So far, the series includes LEGO Technic Porsche 911 GT3 RS, LEGO Technic Bugatti Chiron, LEGO Technic Lamborghini Sián FKP37, and now, the LEGO Technic Ferrari Daytona SP3 (42143).
The latest to join the LEGO Technic Ultimate Car Concept series is a 1:8 scale model that packs a whopping 3,778 pieces. When completed, the LEGO Technic Ferrari Daytona SP3 (42143) measures a shelf-space devouring 23 inches long, 9.5 inches wide, and 5.5 inches tall (59 x 25 x 14 cm).
Key features include a pair of working butterfly doors, a detailed cockpit with the prancing horse logo resplendent on the steering wheel, a functioning 8-speed sequential gearbox with paddle shifter, a V12 engine with moving pistons, striking silver lacquered wheels that are almost like the real deal, and a unique serial for your model. For the uninitiated, realistic wheels are a hallmark of the LEGO Technic Ultimate Car Concept series.
Also in the box is a decorated display plate – much like those you will find on UCS sets, and an insightful booklet exploring the close collaboration between the Ferrari and LEGO Technic designers.
Speaking of books… fans who desire to learn more about the LEGO Technic Ferrari Daytona SP3’s design can do so by picking up an exclusive coffee table style book, called LEGO Technic Daytona SP3, The Sense of Perfection.
This hardcover book delves deep into the innovation and engineering excellence that unites both brands and takes a closer look at the collaborative process of conceptualizing, designing, and producing the model, featuring interviews from LEGO Group and Ferrari designers and third-generation LEGO Group owner Kjeld Kirk Kristiansen.
The book will have a limited run of 5,000 copies and it will be available on June 01, 2022, from Lego.com – the same day which the LEGO Technic Ferrari Daytona SP3 (42143) will go on sale.
Now, back to the model… the purchase of the LEGO Technic Ferrari Daytona SP3 (42143) also includes access to exclusive download content. It has an asking price of US$399.99. Expensive, no doubt but at the same time, a small price considering how much the real deal costs.
Hmmm, I wonder if LEGO and Ferrari will put it on the track as they did with the last LEGO Technic Ferrari set?
