The Integra Namesake Returns To Acura, Reservations Start Now

The Integra namesake has returned to Acura. It has been over 20 years of not having Integra in Acura’s lineup. No, the Acura RSX does not count since it was rebadged as, well, RSX.

It looks like there’s not going to be an Integra for Honda. Judging from the design language, 2023 Acura Integra is an Acura-only thing. The sharp, chiseled look with a “pointy” front end is in line with the rest of the fleet. Therefore I can’t see it wearing a Honda badge.

In any case, we have checked. No news out of Japan for an Integra. JDM enthusiasts are going to be very disappointed. Anyways, as far as design goes, it is unmistakable Acura (wait, we said that already?). The front fascia is a frameless version of Acura’s Diamond Pentagon grille, flanked by JewelEye LED headlight elements and “Chicane” LED daytime running lights. Meanwhile, the rear gets single-piece LED taillights.

This being an Acura means it is kind of a luxe car. Though, there’s no doubt that the 2023 Acura Integra is a sporty car as its DNA demands. The sportiness is lent to it by the liftback body style paired with a coupe-like roofline.

At this point, it appears the all-new Acura Integra will be offered only as a 5-door sedan. No words if there will be a two-door coupe variant.

Under the aluminum hood is a VTEC-enhanced DOHC 1.5L turbocharged 4-cylinder engine producing 200 horsepower at 6,000 RPM and 192 lb-ft (260 Nm) of torque at 1,800 to 5,000 RPM, mated to “tuned for high-output turbo engine” CVT automatic transmission or a 6-speed stick shifter.

The manual gearbox is a short-throw, close-ratio 6-speed gearbox, which features automatic rev-matching, and is paired to a helical limited-slip differential to maximize available traction when pulling out of corners.

Other notables include rear-seat side airbags as standard, sport-tuned chassis, frameless Acura dual-exhaust finishers, embossed Integra logos front and back, 17-inch alloy wheels as standard, a 10.2-inch Acura Precision Cockpit digital gauge cluster, smartphone integration, an 8-speaker premium audio system, USB-C charging – just to name a few.

The 2023 Acura Integra also marked the first time Integra is built in America. Prices will start at around US$30,000 and if anyone’s interested, Acura is taking reservations starting today for delivery this Spring.

In related news, Acura will become the first automaker to open a virtual showroom in the metaverse. The digital showroom is set to open on March 22, 2022.
