The electric Volkswagen Up in Europe, known as e-up! E-up! is the predecessor to the ID line of electric vehicles. This little guy was so popular in recent years that it has caused delivery time to be bumped to as far as 16 months.
To reset things, Volkswagen temporarily stopped taking new orders until the end of 2020. However, production continued throughout last year (2021) to clear the backlog. Now with 30,800 deliveries and all backlogs cleared, the Volkswagen e-up! – specifically, the Style Plus – is available to order again, well, in Germany, that is. Unfortunately, it does appear that it will cross the Atlantic Ocean anytime soon.
Anyhoo, as far as the Volkswagen e-up! Style Plus goes, it is outfitted with a 61 kW/83 PS (82 BHP) electric drive that produces a beefy for a tiny car torque of 210 Nm (155 lb-ft).
It is paired to a battery system that affords it up to 258 kilometers (160 miles) range and comes equipped with a wealth of standard features, including a CCS charging plug for rapid charging, Lane Assist lane departure warning system, Climatronic air conditioning, a leather-trimmed multifunction steering wheel, and 15-inch “Blade” alloy wheels.
The Volkswagen e-up! is available to order now in Germany with a starting price of €26.895 (about US$30,512).
