This is the T.33, Gordon Murray’s second all-new supercar following the superlative T.50 we saw in 2020. It was launched on January 27 but on February 4, it was revealed that all 100 units were spoken for. Well, that was quick even for 100 units and for a ride that costs an unholy £1.37 million+ (or about US$1.85 million+).
The T.33 is said to have been designed, engineered, and developed to be the world’s most accomplished all-around two-seater, mid-engined V12 supercar. The ride is powered by a specially reconfigured version of the GMA-Cosworth 3.9L V12 motor (Cosworth GMA.2) that produces 615 PS (607 HP) and 451 Nm (333 lb-ft) of torque.
Making the ride even more powerful is the weight of the vehicle, which is just a little over 1,000 kilograms, at 1,090 kilograms (2,403 lbs) – thanks in part to the superlight carbon fiber monocoque and iFrame featuring cored carbon fiber panels. This resulted in a pretty astounding power-to-weight ratio of 0.56 HP per kilograms (or 556 per tonne).
The power is put to good use at the rear wheels through a bespoke six-speed manual gearbox by Xtra, which is offered with a manual gearchange or an Instantaneous Gearchange System (IGS) paddle shift actuation, with a low inertial clutch and a Limited-Slip Differential (LSD) in between. A six-speed manual gearbox is standard with paddle-shift as an option.
A few other notables include a bespoke rack and pinion, hydraulically-assisted steering system, Brembo Carbon Ceramic Material brake discs, aluminum Monobloc alloy calipers (6-pod front; 4-pod rear), lightweight forged aluminum alloy (19-inch front; 20-inch rear) wrapped in Michelin Pilot Sport 4 S tires, RAM induction airbag, and luxuriously appointed and sporty cabin void of touchscreens.
Speaking of the cabin, in place are the good old analog and rotary controls. While the cabin may not look high-tech, the in-car entertainment does support Apple CarPlay and Android Auto as standard.
The Gordon Murray Automotive T.33 Coupe Supercar is no doubt a purist’s sports car. And oh, did we mention GMA has done away with the rear fan for aerodynamic, found on the T.50?
