I never understand how anyone could misplace a big thing like a backpack. But hey, things happen and if it does happen, it would be easy to trace where it is – if the bag in question is the Targus Cypress Hero Backpack with Apple Find My Tech.
As the product name suggests, the Targus Cypress Hero Backpack has a built-in location tracker that uses Apple Find My Technology to enable you to find it on the Find My app if it is misplaced.
The tech also works to help you locate a misplaced iPhone. All you have to do is press a button on the backpack to ping your phone, sending an alert to inform them of its location. Obviously, for this Find My function to work, you have it set up in the Targus app.
The tracker is powered by a replaceable battery that is rechargeable via USB. But I imagine you don’t have to do that often as Targus claims that the battery is good for a year’s use.
The tracker further boasts a built-in sound alert that can be triggered remotely.
The selling point here is that the tracker is “highly integrated” into the backpack which, according to Targus, “offers some additional anti-theft protection.” How? I am not really sure. Perhaps because the tracker cannot be easily removed or detached from the package it is tracking?
As far as the backpack goes, we know that it has an IPX3 rating (yes, these days even bags have IP rating) and while we do not know the internal compartmentalization – if any, we do know that the back is made sustainably using 26 recycled water bottles.
The Targus Cypress Hero Backpack with Find My Technology will drop sometime in Spring/Summer 2022 for US$149.99.
