I’ve always wished I was better at woodworking but I can’t even make a livable birdhouse out of those easy-to-assemble kits. French woodworker Olivier Gomis is basically the opposite though, woodturning and crafting this absolutely incredible Lord of the Rings glowing One Ring lamp from maple and maple veneer over the course of 53 hours. 53 hours! The actual One Ring was probably forged quicker.
When the lamp’s power button is pressed, the letters slowly begin to glow, revealing the fiery inscription of the ring. That is awesome. Just don’t be too surprised when the Ringwraiths show up at your door demanding the ring’s return to Sauron.
Olivier’s original intention was to sell the lamp, but then realized he can’t very well go selling something as precious(!) as the One Ring and decided to keep it for himself. I cannot fault him for that. However, I can offer him one of my kidneys hoping he’ll change his mind.
