Meet The First Tablet From Finnish Handset Maker Nokia, The Nokia T20

If you haven’t already heard, Nokia now has a tablet. The Nokia T20, as it is called, is an Android tablet that promised long-lasting battery life and Android OS updates for two years – in addition to three years of monthly security updates.

Nokia is marketing it for family use as well as for businesses. The device is Android Enterprise Recommendation (AER) certified for the purpose of the latter.

The device is pretty sleek actually, looking much like an upsized version of the XR20 handset. The Nokia T20 is offered in two flavors: WiFi-only and WiFi+LTE models. However, it looks like the latter is not available stateside. At least, not yet.

Fronting the device is a 10.4-inch in-cell 2K (2,000 x 1,200 pixels) screen. Also on the front is a 5 MP front-facing camera. Mounted on the sandblasted aluminum back cover is an 8 MP AF snapper with LED flash. Imaging is nothing groundbreaking as it is on most tablets.

Under the hood, HDM Global has gone with the lesser-known chip, an Unisoc Unisoc Tiger T610 featuring an octa-core processor (2A75 1.8 GHz + 6A55 1.8 GHz), paired to 4 GB RAM and up to 64 GB. The storage is expandable up to 512 GB via microSD.

Other key features include stereo speakers with power amplifier, OZO Audio, OZO Playback, dual microphones, Bluetooth 5.0, dual-band WiFi 802.11a/b/g/n/ac, 3.5 mm audio jack, GPS/A-GPS (with LTE version only), USB 2.0 with Type-C interface, IP52 rated construction, support Face Unlock, built-in FM radio, a trio of sensors (accelerometer, ambient light sensor, and hall).

The T20 is outfitted with an 8,200 mAh battery that offers 15 hours of internet use, 7 hours of conference calls, or 10 hours of videos. The battery supports fast charging at up to 15W, though, out-of-the-box, it comes with a 10W charging brick.

Out-of-the-box, Nokia’s first tablet is powered by Android 11 which features a new Google Kids Space, a kids mode for children to explore apps, books, and videos. Google Kids Space works in parallel with your child’s Google Account, which parents or guardians can help manage with Family Link parental controls.

The Nokia T20 Android is available since October 06 in select markets, with a choice of 3+32 GB WiFi, 4+64 GB WiFi, and 4+64 GB LTE. However, it appears that only the 4+64 GB is available in the U.S. and only from Amazon for US$249.99 for the 4 + 64 GB WiFi.
