Never mind that an Ouija board (pronounced wee-gee) is never a game. It is now – possibly to the dismay of some Catholics – because both Hasbro Gaming and USAopoly have released their own version. That’s right, my friends. Ouija Board is officially a game for, you know, reasons.
If you ever find your spectral vision impaired, the Ouija board will help to reconnect with the unseen world again and you have two versions to choose from. If you cannot tell, I am not being serious. Anyways, first, there is the Ouija Board from Hasbro Gaming and then there’s the Oujia: Wednesday by USAopoly, inspired by none other than The Addams Family’s eccentric Wednesday.
Hasbro Gaming’s iteration is more classic-looking, featuring a sturdy wood Ouija board with original graphics and a plastic message indicator. The Ouija: Wednesday, on the other hand, has a somewhat gothic design that features fun (in Wednesday’s way) and spooky details that are reminiscent of Tim Burton’s.
Here’s how an Ouija board works for those who don’t know:
“Just ask it a question and wait to see what the answer the Mystifying Oracle will reveal to you. Sit opposite your partner, with the board between you and your fingers lightly touching the message indicator. One of you asks a question – now concentrate very hard on the matter at hand – and wait for the indicator to move and begin to reveal the answer through its message window. If nothing happens at first, try asking another question. Allow one to five minutes for an answer to come. Will it tell you YES – or NO? Will it give you a NUMBER – or SPELL out an answer?”
If you are keen, the Hasbro Gaming Oujia Board and USAopoly Oujia: Wednesday are available for pre-order for US$21.99 and US$29.99, respectively.
