In the midst of celebrating 75 years of Porsche, Porsche is also commemorating the 60th year of the iconic 911 sports car. However, unlike the 75th-anniversary coupe and speedster which are concepts, the Porsche 911 S/T is something money can buy.
The anniversary model for the 60th anniversary of the Porsche 911 has a limited run of 1,963 units and it is offered with an optional ’60 Years of the 911’ Heritage Design Package.
For the first time, the 525 PS (518 HP) high-revving engine that has a maximum engine speed of 9,000 RPM from the 911 GT3 RS is applied to a road car.
The engine is mated to a short-ratio manual gearbox via a lightweight clutch developed exclusively for this model, affording this celebratory model to rocket from naught to 100 (62 mph) in just 3.7 seconds and achieve a top speed of 300 km/h (186 mph).
The Porsche 911 S/T special-edition anniversary model is truly a purist ride. If that’s not enough, it is the lightest 911 of the 992 generation, tipping the scales at just 1,380 kilograms (3,042 lbs).
Other highlights include generous use of CFRP (hood, roof, front wings, and doors), center-locking magnesium wheels (20-inch front, 21-inch rear) wrapped in ultra-high-performance tires (255/35 ZR 20 front and 315/30 ZR 21 rear), a lithium-ion battery, lightweight glass, reduced insulation, CFRP full bucket seats with an option for 4-way-adjustable Sport Seat Plus at no extra charge, a leather interior and perforated Dinamica roof lining, and a Gurney flap on the extending rear spoiler.
It is also worth noting that the Porsche 911 S/T is the only 911 of the current generation to combine a double-wishbone front-axle design with a multi-link rear axle without rear-axle steering.
If anyone’s interested, the new Porsche 911 S/T special edition model can be ordered today with a starting price of US$290,000.
