Pokémon Rotom Phone Made The Jump From The Video Game To The Real World

The Smartphone Rotom aka the Rotom Phone has made the jump from video games to the real world. Takara Tomy has revealed the Pokémon Camera Link! Pokédex Smartphone Rotom. For the uninitiated, the Rotom Phone is an in-game device that is an enhanced version of the Pokédex. It first appeared in Pokémon Sword and Pokémon Shield, as well as Pokémon Scarlet and Violet.

Takara Tomy has made it real, allowing you to associate the real world with the world of Pokémon. All you need is to aim the Pokédex Smartphone Rotom’s camera at the object of your choice and boom! it will associate it based on the colors with 500 Pokémon from all regions, including the Paldea region.

The device is capable of distinguishing 5 colors, namely, red, green, blue, black, and white, and when you snap a picture of the object, the device will associate it with 20 types of backgrounds based on the color of the image. So, the Pokémon you will “meet” will change according to the background. The creature that matches the linked field will appear and then be registered in the picture book.

Apparently, you can also read the Pokémon that is on your friend’s Rotom Phone and you can even exchange information. Though it is not clear if you can trade the creatures. The camera is not just for turning everyday objects into mystical creatures; it can also serve as a regular camera in which you can take pictures and decorate them as you desire.

The device can also read out the info about the Pokémon with the same voice as in the anime. Of course, you can also do battles using the Pokémon registered in your picture book and do a bunch of activities. All told this “phone” offers no less than 31 functions. Unfortunately, you can’t make calls like the in-game characters can. It will not allow you to access the web either.
