Remember the retro handheld gaming device, Analogue? Of course, you do remember because this little fun gadget made fans waited for like forever before it finally began shipping out in batches in December 2021. The company said that all pre-orders will be shipped starting on August 28.
However, if you haven’t already gotten yourself a unit, you may want to check the new limited Analogue Pocket Glow in the Dark Edition. Yup. Glow in the Dark is the new black. OK. Maybe not but it is cool though. Under the hood, it is still the good’ol, fun Pocket but it is now made with Glow in the Dark plastic which will “charge” with a light source such as an incandescent light bulb, direct sunlight, or blacklight, to allow it to glow for 8 hours in the dark. Pretty snazzy, right?
But for those who don’t what an Analogue Pocket is, here’s the official product description:
“A multi-video-game-system portable handheld. A digital audio workstation with a built-in synthesizer and sequencer. A tribute to portable gaming. Out of the box, Pocket is compatible with the 2,780+ Game Boy, Game Boy Color & Game Boy Advance game cartridge library. Pocket works with cartridge adapters for other handheld systems, too. Like Game Gear. Neo Geo Pocket Color. Atari Lynx & more. Completely engineered in *two FPGAs.”
Strictly no emulation is involved, if we may add. Anyhoo, if anyone’s interested, you may want to know that the Analogue Pocket Glow in the Dark Edition will be available in “highly limited quantities” at US$249.99 a pop starting on September 01, 8 AM PDT. It will not be a pre-order, btw. The website says it will ship in 24-48 hours after ordering when it becomes available on the said date.
