Theres Going To Be A New Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles Movie And Thankfully It Isnt Live-action!

A good movie or TV trailer makes 2 minutes feel like seconds. But somehow, the 2.28 minutes trailer of the new Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Mutant Mayhem movie felt forever. Anyways, so, yes, there is going to be yet another TMNT movie but thankfully, it ain’t live-action.

Instead, Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Mutant Mayhem is an animated film that leans heavily on Spider-Man: Across The Spider-Verse style of animation. Well, kind of. I think the animators took the big screen animated Miles Morales style to the extreme to the extent that the images are sketchy – like literally. And did I mention that some scenes felt very stop-motion-like? Which is kinda cool.

As far as the trailer for the upcoming Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Mutant Mayhem goes, it is great but a little headache-inducing. But that’s just me.

For a person who grew up watching the cartoon series and not the comics (which weren’t the hottest at the time, TBH), the new film has no doubt rocked my childhood. It is so… different.

To be fair, I think it was the cartoon that makes what TMNT is today. I think we should at least give the original cartoon that gave it life some level of respect.

Then again, these are fictional characters and stories, and creators have every right to adapt them to fit the current environment. After all, decades later, kids today will reminisce about this movie like kids from the 80s do today with the cartoon series.

I guess every generation deserves their own version of TMNT but hopefully, the creators aren’t doing so to push certain agenda. Anyways, just enjoy the movie and while doing so, may we all appreciate the art of animation. Oh, right. Here’s the gist of the story:

“In Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Mutant Mayhem, after years of being sheltered from the human world, the Turtle brothers set out to win the hearts of New Yorkers and be accepted as normal teenagers through heroic acts. Their new friend April O’Neil helps them take on a mysterious crime syndicate, but they soon get in over their heads when an army of mutants is unleashed upon them.”

The film was directed by Jeff Rowe and Kyle Spears and features voices of Nicolas Cantu (Leonardo), Sharon Brown Jr. (Mikey), Micah Abbey (Donnie), Brady Noon (Raph), Jackie Chan (Splinter), Ayo Edebiri (April), Ice Cube (Superfly), Seth Rogen (Bebop), John Cena (Rocksteady), Paul Rudd (Mondo Gecko), Rose Byrne (Leatherhead), Post Malone (Ray Fillet), Hannibal Buress (Genghis Frog), Natasia Demetriou (Wing Nut), Maya Rudolph (Cynthia Utrom), and Giancarlo Esposito (Baxter Stockman).

The Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Mutant Mayhem will hit theaters on August 02, 2023.
