If you like tearing down the dirt road in the backcountry, you probably want to do it emission-free. If you dig that, Sweden-based electric bike company Cake has just the ride for you. Announced in recent months is the new Bukk platform, a highly customizable version of the Limited Edition Bukk electric off-road performance motorcycle launched late last year.
The new Bukk is outfitted with an electric drivetrain that delivers a category-leading power-to-weight ratio. The robust off-road two-wheeler is just 89 kilograms (195 lbs) light – courtesy of the forged aluminum frame and CAKE-designed components – and is powered by “Jante”, Cake’s newly developed Internal Permanent Magnet (IPM) motor.
“Jante” has a max output of 16 kW and 456 Nm (336 lb-ft) of torque, which enables the 0-45 km/h (28 mph) sprint in 2.15 seconds and tops out at over 90 km/h (56 mph). But here’s the catch. The aforementioned numbers are those from the Bukk Power Light.
Speaking of which, the new Bukk is also available in Bukk Superlight (13kW) but whichever you go with, you can choose between pure off-road or street-legal versions or both. As far as the Super Light goes, it offers an instant torque of 366 Nm (270 lb-ft), 0-45 km/h acceleration in 2.57 seconds.
The new Bukk is outfitted with a 2.9 kWh battery that charges to 80% in a little over 1.5 hours and for racing, a rapid locking mechanism allows for tool-free battery swaps in under 30 seconds.
The new Bukk also offers three fully configurable ride modes and if you are willing to part with a little more money, you can enable the advanced bike settings for US$200, Speaking of money, the Cake Bukk is available now to buy with a starting price of US$10,270.
