I can’t imagine Disney’s 1993 film, Hocus Pocus, has a huge fan base. But there must be (a huge fan base). How else would these LEGO Ideas get 10,000 supports, right? I am not a fan, even though I have admittedly watched the movie one too many times. Even as a non-fan, I am impressed by the brick-built Sanderson Sisters’ cottage of the newly announced LEGO Ideas Disney Hocus Pocus set.
The idea of the witch lair was pitched by LEGO’s very first Belgian Fan Designer, The Ambrinator otherwise known as Amber Veyt. In fact, this is her second attempt. The first managed to garner the support but was not approved. Amberinator is worthy of her name; she persisted and submitted the idea once again but with some upgrades.
This time. It not only managed to round up the support required but was also green-lit by LEGO. So here we are, seeing the LEGO Ideas Disney Hocus Pocus: The Sanderson Sisters’ Cottage (21341).
This 2,316-piece set lets you recreate the cottage with iconic props inspired by the 1993 film. The sinister (yet lovely) cottage can be opened in multiple ways for easy viewing of the completely decked-out interior.
When completed, the cottage measures over 10.5 in. (27 cm) high, 10 in. (26 cm) wide, and 9 in. (24 cm) deep and features the museum gift shop, cauldron with a LEGO light brick to illuminate the fire beneath, Book of Spells, the witches’ bat-infested bedroom, and a rotatable water wheel outside that triggers the pink ‘smoke’ puff to emerge from the chimney up top.
Finally, you can detach the side room where Dani Dennison was captured by the sinister sisters if so desire. The set also includes a buildable graveyard too which also doubles as a display stand for the included minifigures. Speaking of minifigures, the set comes with a whopping 6 minifigures, which include the Sanderson sisters, Max Dennison, Dani Dennison, and Allison Watts, plus a Thackery Binx in cat form, and a boatload of accessories.
The LEGO Ideas Disney Hocus Pocus: The Sanderson Sisters’ Cottage (21341) will drop on July 04, 2023, for US$229.99. LEGO VIP will be able to purchase the set starting on July 01.
