Full-Size Tamiya R/C Buggy Coming from Little Car Company

The UK-based Little Car Company typically makes smaller (66% – 75% scale) drivable versions of existing cars (including a vintage Aston Martin DB5 and Ferrari Testa Rossa). But now they’re taking things in the opposite direction, this time scaling up Tamiya Wild One R/C buggy into a drivable version with a top speed of 60 MPH. Vroom vroom!

The Tamiya Wild One buggy has been an R/C staple since the 1980’s, making it the logical choice to scale up as Gen-X comes into some disposable income and realizes it needs a drivable version of the R/C car it had as a kid. I know I want one. Now I just need the disposable income part of this equation.

Tamiya will produce 100 Launch Edition models of the buggies next year, each “powered by eight removable battery packs making up 14.4 kWh of energy storage.” There’s a 5-inch digital display for showing speed and other vitals, and the company plans to include a kit that makes the buggy street legal in the UK and European Union but not the US. Not that that’s going to stop me from driving it to work, though, just to be clear.
