Well, that was quick. The proposed LEGO Ideas set by LEGO Ideas member Jan Woźnica aka john_carter that we were so enamored got the nod of approval from LEGO last November and it is now an official set. LEGO officially took the wrap off the LEGO Ideas Tales of the Space Age (21340) which is set to hit the shelves on May 08, 2023, for US$49.99, with VIP access starting on May 05, 2023.
Jan’s design is based on a minimalistic expression of the romance of the universe, with the visual style of classic posters from the 80s. It is a theme that I like to refer to as retro-futuristic, you know, like The Jetsons. This style turns out to be a match made in heaven for LEGO bricks.
The LEGO Ideas Tales of the Space Age (21340) is a four-piece postcard-sized set that makes for a super cool tabletop display to show the space geek in you. They can be hung on the wall too if so choose to. It uses 688 pieces to showcase an overarching story of a space shuttle, moon base, black hole, lunar eclipse, different star constellations, and more.
You can choose to display them however you like, in any arrangement you fancy. Whatever you choose, they are absolute darlings to look at, IMHO.
