Nothing withstanding the controversy surrounding The Flash‘s actor Ezra Miller, we are still looking forward to seeing him reprise his role as the big screen lightning-fast superhero in the DC superhero’s first-ever standalone feature film. It has been more than a year since we first saw the teaser.
Earlier this week, Warner Bros. Pictures dropped the official trailer of the much anticipated DC movie. And goddamn it. It is looking super good. We have high hopes. Warning. This post contains many spoilers and so does the trailer. So this is a good time to turn away if you hate spoilers. If not, keep on reading. Before we proceed, here’s a gist of what the film is about:
“Worlds collide in “The Flash” when Barry uses his superpowers to travel back in time in order to change the events of the past. But when his attempt to save his family inadvertently alters the future, Barry becomes trapped in a reality in which General Zod has returned, threatening annihilation, and there are no Super Heroes to turn to. That is, unless Barry can coax a very different Batman out of retirement and rescue an imprisoned Kryptonian… albeit not the one he’s looking for. Ultimately, to save the world that he is in and return to the future that he knows, Barry’s only hope is to race for his life. But will making the ultimate sacrifice be enough to reset the universe?”
The plot borrows the story from 2011 Flashpoint comics, though is not a direct panels-to-screen adaption. Anyhoo, by now, it is no secret that Michael Keaton is reprising his role as Batman from Tim Burton’s Batman aka 1989 Batman.
In this trailer, we get to see and hear more from everyone’s favorite silver-screen cape crusader. Batfleck is also involved and the aforementioned imprisoned Kryptonian is not Superman though for obvious reasons. It’s Kara Zor-El aka Supergirl. There is much going on in the almost 3 minutes trailer that will get fans all pumped. I know I am.
The Flash will hit theaters on June 16, 2023.
