Whether you are a one-time-use coffee cup collector or a fan of the upcoming Shin Kamen Rider film, you will want to check out this collaboration between the Japanese convenience store chain, FamilyMart, and Shin Kamen Rider.
There are a few things going on with this second collab between FamilyMart and Shin Kamen Rider. Kicking off the collab is this: the Shin Kamen Rider Famima Café Blended Caffe Latte. No. It probably does not taste like Kamen Rider, Shin or not (what does Kamen Rider taste like anyway?).
It is just a regular blend coffee/latte but in very collectible collaboration cups featuring Kamen Rider, Kamen Rider No.2, Kamen Rider’s Cyclone motorcycle, and the logo of the evil organization SHOCKER. The black and white, silhouette-style graphics are set against a white or red background.
The coffee product is available as a regular blend in a choice of small or medium, and cafe latte in medium only. All told, there are 10 types of “FAMIMA CAFÉ blended caffe latte collaboration cups (5 types each of S and M size). Unfortunately, you will not be able to choose the design.
Also, once each design is sold out, it is sold out. No restocking whatsoever. Plus, it is, of course, available in Japan (except for Okinawa). The Blend sells for 110 yen (US$0.81) for the S size and 180 yen (US$1.32) for the Medium cup. Meanwhile, Cafe Latte also retails for 180 yen (US$1.32) for each cup.
The collaboration does not stop at coffee. From February 14 through to March 06 (Japan time), customers can collect one stamp for purchases made with Famipay. Upon collecting 5 stamps, customers can apply to have a shot at winning a limited edition Shin Kamen Rider-branded tumbler:
And starting on February 11, fans can buy a “Movie Ticket Card” with a wearable, movie replica of the Shin Kamen Rider’s transformation belt. The Legend Transformation Belt Series Kamen Rider Transformation Belt Typhoon Early Ver. featuring “Prana Forced Ejection Assistance Mechanism” (phew! what a mouthful!) along with the original design movie card set is only available at FamilyMart.
The belt comes with an extension which will allow it to be worn by both adults and children. We heard the reservation for the 5,650 yen (US$41.50) collectible merchandise is only through the Famima app which apparently has ended. Ugh. Anyhoo, a Kamen Rider No.2 version of the belt will be released on March 25.
Finally, to celebrate the release of the movie, FamilyMart also partnered with Shin Japan Heroes Universe (SJHU) to offer merch based on the four Shin properties which you can acquire by buying 3 select products from the convenience stores. Oh, wait. It looks like that campaign has ended. Oops. Sorry. You will probably find them on Yahoo! Japan auctions site, or maybe eBay if really want them.
