A smartphone can do a lot of things, including serving as a voice recorder for journalist works, interviews, recording lectures and meetings, and more. But it can do, does not mean quality. That said, if pro-grade quality audio is what you are after, then you may want to check this new kid on the block: iZYREC Mini Recorder. To name it “mini” is an understatement. This thing is mind-blowingly tiny.
At just 2 x 1.7 x 0.25 inches (5 x 4.3 x 0.64 cm), the iZYREC Mini Recorder is a tad larger than a piece of biscuit which can fit into a pocket or wallet. Just imagine that. A voice recorder in a wallet. It comes with a detachable magnetic buckle that lets you attach it to your collar, or any ferrous metal surface, at a mere 18g (0.63 oz.), it should not even feel it is there if attached to the collar or pocket.
Audio recording is through dual Knowles SiSonic microphones that offer sound quality up to 1,536 Kbps, bolstered by AI noise-canceling technology. The mics are capable of recording sounds up to 10 meters (33 feet) away and with integrated Automatic Grain Control (AGC) algorithms, it amplifies far-away sounds with clarity as if they are just next to the recorder.
Audio data recorded are saved in an onboard 32 GB eMMC storage which can store up to 2,000 hours of audio. A 450 mAh battery good affords up to 30 hours of continuous recording or up to 75 days of standby.
The iZYREC Mini Recorder is minimal in design. It has just a slider switch to start and stop the device, and thanks to an app, there is no need to connect to the computer to review the recordings. The companion app lets you playback recordings as we as quickly identify important moments in the recordings and mark them for quick access.
The iZYREC Mini Recorder was a successfully funded Kickstarter project and it is now available from IZYREC.com for US$120 and up.
