We just realized we have covered a Bugatti timepiece and a Bugatti pool table in recent years but never a Bugatti ride in like two years. Too much news, too little time. We have checked. Other than some special editions, we only missed featuring two Bugatti models: Divo and La Voiture Noire. Anyhoo, here’s one new one from the French luxury supercar maker: the Bugatti Mistral.
Revealed in August, the new Bugatti Mistral is a significant ride not just because it is a new model in a very long time but it is also “the last of its kind” because it is the last of the Bugatti to be powered by the W16 engine. Since its introduction in 2005 in the Veyron 16.4, the legendary W16 motor has been deployed in several other Bugatti rides, including the famed Bugatti Chiron, the Divo, Bolide, and Centodieci.
The Bugatti Mistral, which shares some aesthetic similarities with the Chiron, is a mid-engine two-seater sports car that staked a claim as the fastest roaster in the world. Yes. It is a roadster. Not just a very fast roaster; it is also the most extreme roadster in Bugatti history.
The W16 Quad-Turbo engine produces an astounding 1,600 PS that would allow this open-top car to achieve more than 420 km/h (261 mph!). It is definitely not the fastest Bugatti or the most horsepower from the W16 but it is definitely the fastest open-top sports car in the world.
Another major highlight of this exotic ride is the aerodynamics and the attention to the direction of airflow around the car which achieves a balance between downforce and drag.
Only 99 examples of the Bugatti Mistral will be built, each commanding a breathtaking 5 million euros (about US$5,250,170), with deliveries due to begin in 2024. Not surprisingly, all 99 units have been spoken for.
