Nothing has just made its second TWS earbuds, called Ear (stick), official. At this point, most of us have seen the charging case which is an unusual cylinder form factor much like lipstick.
Though Nothing Ear (stick)’s charging case is hardly like lipstick when compared to Huawei FreeBuds Lipstick which has the earbuds situated at the top.
For the Ear (stick), a twist of the outer clear casing offer access to the earbuds. Apparently, sound design was involved to make the clicking sound sounds good when opening the case.
The Ear (stick) also boasts several improvements over the brand’s first earbuds and they include a new antenna location that is further away from the face and an updated Clear Voice Technology that now can eliminate 3 dB more than the Ear (1) while utilizing the same 3-mic setup.
In addition, it has a feature called Bass Lock, which uses software to detect the sound that is leaking out and compensates for it by automatically tweaking the equalizer. Nothing said this will ensure optimal listening every time and also “lock in the bass.”
Oh, right. It is worth noting that the Ear (stick) has a silicone-free design too. If you cannot live without silicone eartips, this is not for you. Wait. That sounds like me…
Audio delivery is afforded by a 12.6 mm custom dynamic driver tuned by Nothing and control is via a physical button on each earbud. So, no more touch control.
As for runtime, the earbuds offer up to 7 hours of listening time and up to 29 hours with the charging case.
The Nothing Ear (stick) is available to order stateside for US$99 with shipping starting on November 04, 2022. Limited drops will be available from Nothing’s partners on October 28.
