Budget smartphone makers Infinix has officially launched its “seriously fast 180W Thunder Charge Technology” on its flagship ZERO series. Its claim as the world’s first smartphone to feature 180W Thunder Charge technology is not wrong because iQoo 10 Pro is not 180W but it is the world’s first smartphone with 200W charging.
Not sure what’s the obsession with being the first in the market but anyways, 180W charging is here and along with it, the world’s first 60 MP selfie camera with OIS. I believe that really is the first in the industry.
There are two devices in the ZERO series, namely, ZERO Ultra and ZERO 20. The 180W charging is only available on the flagship Ultra while the 60 MP selfie with OIS can only be found on the 20.
The ZERO Ultra is outfitted with a 4,500 mAh battery which takes only 12 minutes to charge to 100% while in so-called “Furious Mode”. So, it appears that super fast charging is user selectable? I may be wrong.
Anywho, to make sure that super fast charging is safe, the Infinix ZERO Ultra features two 8C cell batteries, each operating at 90W during charging. In addition, there are “three parallel charge pumps” which Infinix said will support the highest-powered conversion.
It is also built to dissipate heat when charging, even in environment temperatures as high as 40 degrees Celsius (104 Fahrenheit). No less than 20 temperature sensors and over 1000 hardware and software security measures were employed to ensure the super fast charging is super safe. In fact, Infinix said it has secured the TÜV Safe Fast Charging Certification.
Other spec sheet details include MediaTek Dimensity 920 5G 6nm process SoC, up to 13 GB RAM with Extended RAM Technology (8 + 5 GB), 256 GB ROM, a 120 Hz 6.8-inch 3D Curved AMOLED display, a 200 MP OIS main camera (plus a 13 MP and a 2 MP cameras), a 32 MP fixed focus selfie camera, dual nano SIM + microSD card slot, Wi-Fi 6, in-display fingerprint sensor – just to name a few.
Meanwhile, the ZERO 20 is powered by a MediaTek Helio G99 chip, backed by 8 GB RAM, and 128/256 GB ROM.
Other highlights include a 108 MP camera with a double-loop design (along with 13 MP and 2 MP cameras), a 6.7-inch FHD+ AMOLED display, dual nano SIM + microSD card slot, Wi-Fi 5, and a 4,500 mAh battery with 45W Super Charge.
The Infinix ZERO Ultra and ZERO 20 are available in select countries for about US$520 and US$270, respectively.
