Hot on the heels of the Bowers & Wilkins Px7 S2 is the British high-end audio equipment maker’s latest flagship cans, the Bowers & Wilkins Px8 Over-ear Noise Canceling Headphones.
Much of the design elements from the Px7 S2 were retained but the Bowers & Wilkins Px8 is rocking some premium materials, including cast aluminum arms and fine Nappa leather wrapping the memory foam cushions on the inside of the earcups.
The differences extend beyond materials; the inside has been updated with new 40 mm carbon cone drivers paired to a fully optimized driver unit ‘motor system’ with a revised magnet, voice coil, and surround to result in “massively improved clarity” due to reduced distortion and “unparalleled accuracy and realism.”
The drivers are further bolstered by aptX Adaptive wireless technology and Digital Signal Processing (DSP) that allows for 24-bit high-resolution streaming from supported services. Speaking of which, you can now play tunes from Deezer, Qobuz, and TIDAL directly from the companion which you use to configure the headphones.
As before the drivers are also angled to maintain a consistent distance to the wearer’s ear across their surface. And then there’s, of course, Px8’s proprietary noise cancelation technology that uses 6 microphones to cancel out noise with no impact on musicality while also ensuring clearer voice calls.
Other notables include ambient pass-through, wear-detection sensor, Bluetooth 5.2, USB-C charging and audio interface, and 30 hours of playback on a single charge. A 15-minute charge will yield 7 hours of playback for those who are in a rush for time.
The headphones come supplied with a 1.2m USB-C to 3.5 mm stereo jack audio cable and a 1.2m USB-C to USB-C cable, as well as a Carry Case.
The Bowers & Wilkins Px8 Over-ear Noise Canceling Headphones are available now, in a choice of black or tan, for US$699.
