Here Are Three Casio EDIFICE Timepieces For Fans Of Japanese Motorsports

While not quite intended as so, the EDIFICE brand of watches by Casio is synonymous with motorsports. Thanks in part to it being the official sponsor of Scuderia AlphaTauri (formerly, Scuderia Toro Rosso) since 2016 and a sponsor to Honda Racing, NISMO, and TOM’s Racing Team, which are huge names in the Japan GT arena.

Also, I think it has something to do with its local. It does look kind of ‘fast’, don’t you think? Anyhoo, as far as the three big names go, here are three recent EDIFICE collab timepieces.

Keep going for a brief rundown of each timepiece.

Casio EDIFICE TOM’S Limited Edition EQB-1100TMS

Casio EDIFICE TOM’S Limited Edition EQB-1100TMS

Unlike the rest of the watches in this article, the Casio EDIFICE TOM’S Limited Edition EQB-1100TMS is not quite motorsports per se. This collab timepiece is designed with TOM’S to evoke the luxury sports cars which are the team’s specialty. TOM’S, which stands for Tachi Oiwa Motor Sport, is a factory-supported racing team and tuner of Toyota and Lexus automobiles and it is a common name on the podiums of Super GT and Super Formula championships.

The EQB-1100TMS is the third TOM’s and Casio collaborative timepiece. Featuring a thin 8.9 mm case and a design inspired by TOM’S luxury sports cars with elements like a carbon fiber dial, and TOM’S logo, and the indicator hands in gold for a touch of luxury. In addition, color gradation around the perimeters of the sapphire crystal as well as on the inset dial at the 6 o’clock position recreates the color-changing singe on a sports car’s titanium tail pipe caused by the exhaust heat.

TOM’S had a hand on every detail of the watch, right down to the octagonal bezel in black ion plating and the gray ion-plated case and band.

The Casio EDIFICE TOM’S Limited Edition EQB-1100TMS is available now in Japan for 69,300 yen (roughly US$512). It is unclear if it will make its way to the U.S. and other countries.

Casio EDIFICE NISMO Limited Edition EQS-930NIS

Casio EDIFICE NISMO Limited Edition EQS-930NIS

Created with NISMO (short for Nissan Motorsports International), a division of Nissan focusing on motorsports and performance car models, the Casio EDIFICE NISMO Limited Edition EQS-930NIS’ design embodies the spirit of NISMO and motorsports through applications of the brand colors, red and black. Red accents can be found applied on the inset dials, bezel sides, and buttons, against a black base.

Moreover, the number ’23’, which is the traditional Nissan and NISMO ace number, can be found engraved on the bezel at the 23-minute mark and on the case back. It is a subtle nod to the motorsport brand which only true fans can appreciate. Throughout the timepiece, NISMO branding can be found engraved on the bezel, band loop, and case back.

The inset dial at the 10 o’clock position has a color gradation that recreates the sports car’s titanium tail pipe bluish singe due to the heat from the exhaust. Finally, the surface of the urethane band has been processed to resemble tire tread after an intense race.

The Casio EDIFICE NISMO Limited Edition EQS-930NIS was previously sold in Japan for 39,600 yen (around US$293).

Casio EDIFICE Honda Racing Championship White Edition ECB-S100HR-1AJR

The Casio EDIFICE Honda Racing Championship White Edition ECB-S100HR-1AJR is not quite new. It was released last year to mark the final year of Honda’s involvement in Formula 1. As the product name suggests, it is in white. It is a gorgeous timepiece and it is Honda Racing, and it fits this article.

The Honda Racing Championship White Edition is a homage to the RA217, Honda’s first F1 race car, which had a champion white paint job. But Casio did not just apply any white color to the watch. Genuine championship white color was applied to the outer ring of the dial which was also decorated with a checkered flag pattern.

The watch is paired with a genuine leather band that is white on the outside and red on the flip side. Red accents can also be found on the 60-second (12 o’clock position) mark on the outer ring, the stem of the ‘D’ push button, the Honda Racing logo on the dial face, and the scale on the function dial.

Rounding up this commemorative timepiece is a special replacement watch band and matching packaging.

The Casio EDIFICE Honda Racing Championship White Edition ECB-S100HR-1AJR was sold in Japan for 46,200 yen (about US$342).
