The Robosen Robotics Auto-converting Optimus Prime and the recent addition, an auto-converting trailer, are good and all but let’s be honest, not everyone who loves the idea of a self-converting Autobot leader can afford to shell out nearly 2,000 dollars for the set.
Thankfully, there is a very much cheaper alternative: Jada Toys Transformers Optimus Prime Converting RC Toy. Granted Jada Toys Transformers Optimus Prime Converting RC Toy is far from the super high-tech Robosen offerings but you can’t argue with the price which is US$69.99.
The Transformers Optimus Prime Converting RC Toy is a remote control Optimus Prime that can transform from a 12-inch (30 cm) long semi into a 13-inch (33 cm) tall robot at a push of a button.
Apparently, in robot mode, it can actually walk in “separated leg-like movement.” Which should mean that it waddles. It further boasts lights and sounds, which include voice lines.
As far as the looks go, Jada’s offering has a very G1 vibe which should appeal to older Transformers fans even though it is recommended for ages 8 and up.
The Jada Toys Transformers Optimus Prime Converting RC Toy is set to arrive in September 2022 for the aforementioned price of US$69.99. If anyone’s interested, you can pre-order it from Entertainment Earth.
