If your impression of a longboard is just a long skateboard that is sometimes too tall and often not so eye-pleasing, well, then think again because the Loaded Boards Fathom 33” will change your perception. Granted, with a deck length of 23 inches (58.4 cm) or an overall length of 33” (83.8 cm), it is probably not the longboard that would let you pull off the usual longboard freestyle tricks but it promises to be one of the easiest boards to ride in the world (and fun to ride too).
The new Fathom 33” is built around the new Loaded Zee Bracket truck mounting system, and rolls on monster-size wheels of up to 105 mm (4.1″) which allows it to easily attain and sustain commuting speeds that “surpass the comfort zone of conventional skateboards.”
Perhaps, Loaded Boards’ description of the board bridging the gap between board and bike may be a tad exaggerated (or maybe not?) but I pretty sure having a board with big ass wheels of 85 mm or 105 mm (3.3″ and 4.1″) and agile trucks will afford longer coasting, and let you conquer bumps and cracks with ease.
The low ride height along with a wide deck helps too. A low-ride height and wide board provide a forgiving, stable platform that is easy to control even at high commuting speeds. Moreover, it allows for ease of pushing and footbraking. So, if you are looking for an emission-free way of exploring the roads less travel, or simply for getting from point A to B without breaking a sweat (or may just a little sweat), and doing so in a lot of style, you may want to check out the Fathom 33”.
The Loaded Boards Fathom 33” Longboard is available in a choice of 105 mm Dad Bod and 85 mm Caguama for US$389 and US$329, respectively.
