LG has gaming monitors and laptops but never gaming laptops. That changes early this month when the South Korean electronics giant who have given up on the smartphone market introduced the LG UltraGear 17G90Q, the brand’s first gaming laptop.
As the product name implies, the 17G90Q is part of the brand’s UltraGear gaming lineup. And boy does look pretty damn sophisticated. OK. I know. I am being basic here. But good lord. It does look sleek.
The laptop will be powered by an 11th-gen Intel Tiger Lake H processor with NVIDIA GeForce RTX 3080 Max-Q graphics card for graphics duties. It will be outfitted with 16/32 GB DDR4 dual-channel memory and configurable with up to 1 TB ultra-fast dual SSDs in its M.2 Dual SSD slots.
And did we mention that is huge? As hinted by its model name, LG’s first gaming laptop is a 17-incher, armed with a 17.3-inch 300 Hz FHD (1,920 x 1,080 resolution) IPS display with a super quick 1 ms response time.
Other notables include per-key RGB backlit gaming keyboard, FHD webcam, fingerprint reader on power button, Wi-Fi 6E and Intel Killer Wireless, built-in 2-way speaker system, supports DTS:X Ultra, a 93 Wh battery, cooling system with Vapor Chamber, and a fairly generous number of ports that include USB 4 Gen 3 ports, USB 3.2 Gen 2 ports, HDMI, RJ45, headphone jack, and card reader.
All these features are packed inside a beautiful Purple Gray aluminum chassis with a profile of 21.4 mm (0.84-inch) thin and weighing in at under 2.7 kilograms (5.95 lbs).
LG UltraGear 17G90Q is pre-installed with LG UltraGear Studio, LG’s gaming software, for customizing gaming-related options and tracking performance data like CPU clock, GPU TDP et cetera.
The LG UltraGear 17G90Q Gaming Laptop is expected to be released in the U.S. and South Korea market in “early 2022” followed by other markets. However, pricing has not been announced yet.
